New Mexico Department of Transportation:  Technical Transportation Planner

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is currently accepting applications for a Technical Transportation Planner.  This position works within the Technical and Freight Planning (TFP) Unit in the Planning Division, Multimodal Planning and Programs Bureau (MPPB) to support statewide technical and freight transportation planning initiatives. This position is responsible for maintaining the functional roadway classifications and supports other Technical and Freight Planning unit planning efforts using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other data management tools.  

Responsibilities also include coordination with other New Mexico Department of Transportation’s units, Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), and Regional Transportation Planning Organizations (RTPOs) regarding adjusted urban area boundaries.  This position manages Technical and Freight Planning programs and projects and assists in the implementation of long-range transportation plans.   This position supports and utilizes the suite of analytical tools housed within the TFP Unit.  Responds to requests for transportation planning research and analysis.
