Sadly Announce the Passing of Dr. Bill Gribb
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a friend, colleague, and great Western Planner, Bill Gribb. To read the full obituary, click here.
Bill was Planner of the Year in 2015, but beyond that he was a pillar of the Wyoming planning community. From his award description:
Dr. Gribb was a professor of urban planning and geography at the University of Wyoming since 1988. During that time, he graduated over 60 of students with the Masters’ of Urban Planning. Many of these well- educated young people have had very successful careers throughout the U.S., but particularly in the western states.
Dr. Gribb always took a practical and applied approach to planning. He always provided students with opportunities to work on actual community problems whether as class projects or in individual thesis research. Most importantly Dr. Gribb’s approach was to plan “with” communities rather than “for” communities. He has passed on this philosophy to his students.
He was tireless in his work ethic to work with local governments to improve their environment, the economy, land use, transportation, and social characteristics. In addition, Dr. Gribb spent significant amounts of time working with Native American government on the Wind River Reservation.
Memorial services are postponed and will be determined at a later date.
