Our Core Values: Community and Culture • Honor and Respect • Self-determination and Sovereignty
Our Core Functions: Communicate, Educate, Empower, Engage, Uplift
UPLIFT: Equity for Tribal, Indigenous and All Communities of Color
As a core function of the Tribal and Indigenous Planners Interest Group of APA, we commit to UPLIFTING Tribal and Indigenous Planners, and all Black, Indigenous, People of Color by assisting APA interest groups and divisions address challenging planning issues in their communities.
The institutional racism in our police departments, schools, and other community institutions are result of generations of racist polices and white supremacy that began with colonization. Telling the truth about the past and recognizing the far-reaching impacts of these policies and practices on Tribal and Indigenous Communities and all Communities of Color is an important first step. Equally important are the steps we take individually and as communities to grow and heal from the past, while working together to create systematic change now and in the future.
Thank you for everything you do in and for your communities and Tribes, and for the honor of standing by your side as we collectively make systemic and longstanding change. Below is a list of action you can take TODAY!
